RACING TIPS FOR ROSEHILL 5 FEBRUARY 2011

ROSEHILL 5 FEBRUARY 2011:
RACE 4-  No 1. Ironstein.
Has top weight but will get 2 kilos off for apprentice Spriggs.Ran a very close 3rd in similar class last start and has 1 win and 2 placings from 3 starts at the distance.Should run well.

RACE 5- No 8. Triple Elegance.

Due for a win. Was an unlucky second last start. Well weighted. This should finally be his day.

RACE 7-No 8 Ofcoursehecan.
Is coming back from a spell but he has been training well apparently. Well weighted with good jockey on board. Has potential.

RACE 8-No 4. American Crew.
Another horse who has had a few chances. Looks very well weighted and has quality in a fairly even field. Today is his chance to show what he has to offer.

Good Luck and Happy Punting!!!!

Enrico.

  1. Interesting to see the reasonings behind the tips. Can't wait to see what the outcomes are since you did pretty well last week.

  2. Well....it was Triple Elegance's day after all. He won by 7 lenghts!! Paid only $1.80( win) and $1.10 for the place as he was was favourite. But a win is still a win!!

Ofcoursehecan and American Crew ran good seconds and paid $1.90 and $1.50 respectively.

    Ironstein ran a solid 3rd paying $1.80.

Betting Each Way slanted to the place but covering the win ( on a ratio 20% win -80% place)gave a return with 40% profit. Not too bad.

Let's hope for more next week...

    Thanks,

    Enrico.

  4. Hey mate, can you explain these terms

'Betting Each Way slanted to the place but covering the win ( on a ratio 20% win -80% place)'

Maybe a topic for a future post?

  5. Hi Fletch,

What it means is that you bet the horse for both the win and the place. By slanted I mean that you put more for the place ( 80% of your money) and less for the win ( $20)

    Example:

If you had $5 to bet you would bet $1 win and $4 place. This would allow you to collect both the win and place dividends if the horse won and the place dividend only if it ran 2nd or 3rd.

Overall, this is a safer way of betting ( as the place dividend is generally 1/4 of the win dividend hence why you need to put more to get a decent return), however if you bet well fancied horses you have a good chance of running places and winning sometimes. It's pretty difficult to win consistently by just betting for the win.

I hope that clarifies it a bit.

    Cheers,

    Enrico.

The name of the 1984 horse.......

    MARTIAN'S SON

Winner of the Launceston Cup ( http://www.progroupracing.com.au/group_races/Launceston_Cup.htm )

......... in itself is worthy of discussion.

Impressive drugs would have been used to come up with this name back in the early 80's.

Why would the son of a Martian be a horse? If so, then was this a test horse sent to see if Earth was worth conquering, and somehow ended up tangled in a web of horseracing? Are there other horses out there today with a similar agenda?

  8. Thank you Mr Costa.

In response to your queries, I concur that the owners of this horse consumed way too many illicit drugs in the late 1970's/early 80's naming their horse the way they did.

As for your proposal that there may be some alternate life involved I believe you listened to Brian Wilshire on 2 GB for far too long and hence have been brainwashed by his theories.

    Thanks for your post

    Enrico.
